Renae Leboe
PHOTOGRAPHER | ARTIST | EDUCATOR
Art and creativity serve as powerful healing tools, and I believe in their ability to transform and uplift. My empathetic soul supports me in connecting deeply with my clients, establishing trust which ultimately allows me to create empowering and artistic imagery.
I am dedicated to highlighting the unique beauty and strength of women through photography (and other mediums). My mission is to create powerful, confidence-inspiring portraits that not only capture one’s beauty, but also celebrate the essence of each individual. With a focus on women's empowerment, I provide bespoke portrait sessions. Whether you are a seasoned model or a first-timer, I’m here to guide you through a nurturing, confidence inspiring - perhaps transformative - experience when you get in front of my camera.
As a professional photographer, I collaborate with sustainable and environmentally driven fashion, design, and lifestyle brands. The ones who prioritize and implement sustainability, ethical practices, and joy into their work.

With 15 years of experience behind the lens, I have gotten the opportunity to document some pretty inspirational people and places. Navigating diverse and dynamic settings, I have developed the technical skills to tackle any situation that I may come across.
-
I have studied formally at the Emily Carr University of Art & Design & the University of British Columbia earning my Bachelor of Fine Arts & Masters of Education. Studying painting, drawing, photography, and art history has provided me with valuable knowledge when it comes to elements of design and posing.
I continuously pursue education through various mentorships, workshops and creative shoots to perfect new skills and expand my knowledge.

My sessions are intentional & relaxed. I mindfully hold space for my subjects and create a supportive, uplifting & nurturing experience. No matter what type of session I am shooting, my subjects leave feeling empowered, honoured & celebrated.
As a highly emphatic individual, I am aware of the varying needs of my subject(s) and am able to adjust my approach helping them feel comfortable. This combined with my inter-disciplinary background in the fine arts helps me to create strong compositions and artistic images.

My work carries an artistic yet minimalistic feel. While I do pose my subjects, my images often take on a photojournalistic quality documenting authentic and natural moments. My editing style embraces the moodiness of the west coast while maintaining colours for timeless images.
As a photographer I believe I have the responsibility to authentically show beautifully diverse bodies. When editing, I do not engage in extensive body manipulation. My philosophy is, if it would leave your body in a few weeks to months (like acne, tired eyes etc.) I will edit it out. However, my work is trauma informed and I connect with each of my clients to discuss editing scope and any sensitivities.
